Chicago Calls

Word had come through the Ordo, and so Elaine found herself in Chicago again. She didn't particularly like coming here. California was warm, even this time of year, and wasn't full of things trying to kill her. Everytime she came to Chicago, though, she barely escaped with her life. Even that one time Harry didn't know about, while he was... was.
She didn't like thinking about that, either.
She probably wouldn't be here at all if Karrin Murphy hadn't been involved. The last time she'd heard from Murphy, it was about a funeral. And knowing all the stupid things Harry got himself involved in, there was a chance it could be the same thing. She brought a nice dress, just in case, and hoped for the best. She hadn't been able to feel Harry, really, since the time he died.
Her train--about the most advanced form of transportation she could take without endangering the lives of everyone on board--whistled as it came to a stop. She hadn't even sprung for a passenger train, instead paying for space on a freight. Amtraks were still too new. Murphy had known where to pick her up, though, so it shouldn't be too long until the other woman appeared. Just enough time to pull herself together, and look like she'd only been shaking from the rough trip--not with concern.
